The Humane Society of Utah is excited to reintroduce birthday parties! This is the perfect opportunity for young animal lovers near Salt Lake City to celebrate their passion while helping shelter pets.

Age: 6-14 years old
Capacity: 12 children max and 1-2 adult chaperones
Availability: Wednesdays-Fridays 1pm-5pm latest start time

What’s Included?

  • Private party room
  • Tables, table covers, chairs, trash cans
  • Set up and take down of tables, chairs, and anything set up before you arrive
  • Simple animal-themed decorations and photo props
  • HSU animal-themed invitations and thank you cards
  • 105-minute room reservation
    • 60 minutes led by staff
      • This includes animal interaction! The type of animal cannot be guaranteed
    • 45 minutes for your party celebration

Not Included

  • Kitchen/refrigerator access
  • Utensils, cups, napkins, etc
  • Additional decorations are not allowed
  • Birthday parties take place within the auditorium, and guests must stay in our party area for the last 45 minutes of the party. We invite and welcome guests to come back to HSU to visit with adoptable animals at a different time.
  • Additional decorations are not allowed
  • To make the experience positive and safe for everyone, we put the responsibility of choosing an animal for visitations on HSU staff members only. While we will try our best to accommodate the birthday celebrant’s preferred animal species, we cannot make any guarantees.
  • If at any time we feel that an animal is uncomfortable or unsafe during visitation, our education staff will remove that animal from the room.
  • HSU staff reserve the right to end a party early if guests’ behavior does not follow our guidelines or endangers the well-being of an animal. By booking a birthday party at HSU, we expect that you have read and agreed to our policies.
  • Birthday parties will begin and end on time.

Plushie Adoption ($100)

All partygoers get to adopt a 8” plush dog or cat. This will come with a party hat, ID tag, and time to decorate a collar and take-home bag.

Saturday Pricing ($50)

Due to the high volume of traffic on Saturdays, we can only accommodate a limited number of weekend parties per month

Name A Shelter Pet ($15)

The birthday kid gets to pick a name for an incoming animal. Once the name is used, an email gets sent with a picture of the newly named cutie!
